Hey, I am Tom Mack and I am really grateful that you stopped by to check out some of my artwork and concert posters.
I have been a die-hard ZZ Top fan right from the beginning, a true Rock & Roll junkie.
My wife says that I'm obsessed, just because I wear a rock & roll t-shirt every day, even when I need to dress up in a suit and tie, there’s a rock & roll t-shirt underneath.
Oh, and because she knows when ZZ Top comes up on my playlist because the whole house is shaking.
Back in High School I was dating this really pretty girl, she was a nice girl from a nice family and I really wanted to take her to this heavy metal concert. Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult.
The only problem was that there was no way in hell her parents were going to let her go.
Black Sabbath... sounds like devil worship
And at that time parents were scared to death that their kids were going to run away and join a cult so Blue Oyster Cult was definitely out of the question.
But I had an idea, I went to see her parents. I wanted to see if I could convince them to let her go.
So, being a creative 15 year old, I explained that we were going to see Black Sandwich and Blue Oyster Club and that I would have their daughter home by midnight.
And that their music is kinda like the Beach Boys, just with more electric guitars. And since my friend's parents were driving us so they had nothing to worry about.
They said yes, and we went to the concert, and it was one of the best concerts I have ever seen.
That was about the same time that I started collecting concert posters.
Some of the stores around town would have concert posters hanging in their front window advertising the show. I would go grab a few after the show, before they got thrown away.
I had the best bedroom a teenager could dream of, a kick ass stereo and the walls were covered with concert posters, my friends were all jealous.
Over the last few years I have been re-creating and restoring some of the coolest concert posters from my collection. I hope you like it.
