Description
You are bidding on a World War II official U.S. Marine Corps photo titled "Navigator Turns Ambulance". The photo measures approximately 8" tall and 10" wide. The following is stamped in purple ink on the back: "NAVIGATOR TURNS AMBULANCE---Heading in toward shore and a field hospital, this amphibious tractor is shown returning from the front line beach-head in Bougainville carrying American wounded. Because of dense jungle growth growing to the water's edge and swamps inland, the wounded had to be evacuated by these tractors, which usually took to sea and then turned shoreward at the field hospitals. This not only insured the wounded additional safety, but made their ride less painful. Hdqtrs. No: 65,977 DIST LIST STOCK WATCH YOUR CREDIT LINE OFFICIAL U.S. MARINE CORPS PHOTO". This purple description is hard to read. There is also a sticker adhered to the back with the same typed description of the photo. The photo does not lie flat but is in good condition.
