You are bidding on a World War II official U.S. Air Forces photo depicting Lt. Lou Zamperini bombardier inspecting the damage to his Liberator. The photo measures approximately 8" tall and 10" wide. The following is handwritten in pencil on the back of the photo "Lt. Lou Zamperini, bombardier, examines damage by a Jap cannon shell from an intercepting Zero did this to his Liberator. The Zero got 3 cannon hits in this Liberator which still managed to fly back." There is also a sticker on the back with the typed description. The following is stamped in black ink on the back "Released for Publication -Credit- Official Photo U.S. Air Forces". The number "23780A.C" is written in white in the lower right corner. The photo is in good condition, but the right edge shows creases, folds and some discoloration. The photo does not lie flat. Please see our photos for more information regarding condition.
