You are bidding on one WWII B&W Photo of a Captured Japanese “Type 99 LMG” 3.25” X 2.25”.Just a little history on this photo:
The Type 99 light machine gun (九九式軽機関銃, Kyūkyū-shiki Kei-kikanjū) was a light machine gun used by the Imperial Japanese Army in World War II. It was similar in design to the earlier Type 96 light machine gun, but designed to fire the new and more powerful 7.7 mm Arisaka cartridge, which improved energy by over 50%. Like the Type 96, the Type 99 traces its history to the ZB vz. 26, which also inspired the Bren light machine gun.
This photo was taken by an American United States Marine while he stationed on Bougainville Island as his company’s dentist he and three other dentist. I have had these photos myself for almost 10 years. There are many photos some I have never seen. I am going thru them daily.
I also have some accruements of this soldiers and some other personal items that I will be listing in the coming days. So check back often he was stationed in the South Pacific start in late 1942 from what I can come up with dates and what have you about his time fighting The Japanese Imperial Army.
Just to sit and look at these and wonder just how many came home and how many are still alive today.
