I REALLY NEED TO SELL THIS AND OTHER ITEMS - "life" is making these tough decisions necessary...The following is a part of a very large collection of memorabilia, all of which I have collected over my lifetime. I am looking for a good home for each.
NOTE: The text across the photo is photoshopped on to prevent copying.
This is an EXTREMELY RARE and COLLECTIBLE ITEM - an "official Coast Guard photo" distributed to various news outlets by "Public Relations Division, U.S. Coast Guard, Washington, D.C....entitled "A HANDFUL OF THE MILLIONS OF YANK INVADERS".
The description on the back (library stamp post-dated June 14 1944) reads: Aboard a Coast Guard-manned assault transport, the decks are jammed with American fighting men, who swept across the English Channel in overpowering force to establish a strong beachhead on the coast of Normandy. These troops are shown at a moment of relaxation during intensive final invasion maneuver somewhere off Britain's coast".
This photo is so beautiful - showing American fighting men jammed onto the carrier on their way to the most critical battle in World War II history - June 6, 1944's D-Day Normandy invasion. They had no idea what was in store for them - they only knew they had to go fight to defend the world against Nazi Germany and Japan.
This photo is ONE OF A KIND! I have never seen another version of it anywhere. DON'T MISS OUT!!!
I have lots of sports and other collectibles I will be listing - programs, media guides, photos, baseball cards, hockey cards, etc... If you have any questions, please send me a note!
Happy bidding!
