Italian Theater - Portrait of 88th Division GI & Bride, Late 40’s
This 8×10 portrait photograph show an 88th Infantry Division PFC and his bride, taken in the late 1940s.  The image has a stateside look about it, and the fact that the bride/wife is in the picture probably makes it a sure thing, as I don’t believe PFC could afford to take families overseas at that time with some unrest still remaining in many occupied areas.
This PFC of the 88th Division is sporting distinctive insignia that was not part of the ones worn by the 88th during WWII.
It appears is collar disks are infantry, so I’m sure the DI can be identified.  Note the double sets of collar insignia being worn, “US” over infantry disks on each lapel.  This can into regulation in 1947 I believe. The DI's used to be worn on the lower part of the lapels, now on the shoulder tabs.
