    Description

Up for sale is a lot of 5 antique and vintage medical service pins and related pins spanning the entire career of my grandfather who was a physician. These items are in beautiful vintage condition. General descriptions of each piece are listed below (see all pictures for more details):
    1) Antique 1929 14K gold diamond shaped Phi Beta Pi medical fraternity lapel pin. The front features black enamel surrounding a gold skull and pelvic bones, plus the Greek letters Phi Beta Pi in the center of the pin, as well as 16 seed pearls and 4 green tsavorite garnets along the borders of the pin. The back of the pin is engraved with the letters P, A and Psi, along with the name of the physician who owned it, the date 1-13-’29 and the serial number 10788. There are no other markings on the pin, but a reputable jeweler tested it and determined that it is 14K gold. The pin weighs about 3.5 grams and measures about 1/2” wide x 3/4” high.
    2) Antique 1930’s-1940’s 10K gold shield shaped Fellow of the American College of Radiology lapel pin. The front features the letters “FACR” in violet enamel and a map of North and South America in green enamel, separated by a gold caduceus and flanked on both sides by leaves in green enamel. The back of the pin is marked “10K” and there is a banner-like maker’s mark with a “B” in the center of it (representing the L. G. Balfour Co.). The pin weighs about 3.1 grams and measures about 1 1/8” wide x 1 1/16” high. It comes in the original blue and clear plastic box marked “L. G. Balfour Co.” on the bottom.
    3) Vintage 1980’s 10K gold filled round serrated shaped Michigan State Medical Society 50 Year’s of Service lapel pin or tie tack. The front features the words “Michigan State Medical Society” and “50” in the center. The back is marked “Josten’s 1/10 10K GF”. The pin weighs about 3.8 grams and measures about 5/8” diameter.
    4) Vintage 1980’s gold tone round shaped American Medicine Club 50 Year’s of Service lapel pin. The front features the words “50 Yrs. American Medicine” in black enamel and “Club” in the center of a gold caduceus. The back of the pin is unmarked. The pin weighs about 4.0 grams and measures about 3/4” diameter.
    5) Vintage 1980’s silver tone triangular shaped Young Men’s Christian Association lapel pin. The front features the letters “YMCA” in a bluish background over a red triangle. The back is unmarked. The pin weighs about 1.5 grams and measures about 7/16” wide x 3/8” high.
